Why did you opt for studying at WdKA?
I wanted to study Product Design, and the Netherlands has great achievements in this area. Furthermore, I did a tour through the academy and was really impressed by the Stations and physical facilities of the school, which is really important for my course. I also liked that the school has a more commercial feeling compared to other schools that I have seen.
How is Rotterdam similar to or different from your hometown? What do you like or dislike about it?
My city in Brazil has a 1.4 million population, doesn't have metro or tram and the temperature is mostly above 20°. We also don't cycle there very often, we mostly use buses. I used to take me one and a half hour to get to work and now it takes around six minutes by bike. So I would say the structure of the city is completely different. But on the other side if you hang around the more artistic people in both cities you end up seeing the same faces everywhere, that is very similar.
Name three of your favorite places in Rotterdam, your personal hidden gems.
Not exactly hidden, but I really like the Museumpark, sitting by the water in one of the many harbours (Coolhaven, for example), and also the colored light passage made by Peter Struycken at the Netherlands Architecture Institute.
Name your favorite working space within WdKA.
Ah, so difficult! I honestly love all the Stations... But I think I have to say the Ceramics working space (Material Station) because it is just super relaxing. Also Patricio - the instructor who is usually there - has an amazing musical taste.
