“Create and collaborate with living and biological systems.”
Exploring the intersection of art, design, and ecology, the Living Station investigates how these fieldsconverge to offer new possibilities for creative exploration. Our work critically reflects on the relationships between humans, nature, and technology. The goal is to develop methods, make strategies, and provide tools for creating without exploiting people or depleting natural resources.
At the Living Station, you can:
- Explore circular making practices, focusing on reducing consumption and promoting repair, modularity, and distributed design
- Experiment with biomaterials and biofabrication, using organic materials to address environmental challenges and reduce ecological footprints
- Engage in regenerative practices to create art and design works that have a positive impact on the environment and contribute to ecosystem restoration
- Investigate microorganisms in the Living Station Lab to create biomaterials and apply biofabrication technologies
- Participate in the Trash Bunker, a student-led initiative to reuse materials and reduce waste through a give-and-take system
- Work and learn in natural environments like the Rooftop Garden and Field Labs, collaborating with living systems in real-world settings
