Lichting is a project of HTNK Fashion Recruitment and Amsterdam Fashion Week. The concept of ‘Lichting’ is simple: the best academy graduates of one year in one central catwalk show. In the audience are the 700 most important people for the next step in their careers: fashion journalists and influential stylists, ready to spot the next big thing; CEO’s and design managers on the look-out for talent; and the all-important players-behind-the-scenes, all eager to see what the nation’s academies have brought forth this year.

This year two WdKA graduates have been selected for Lichting 2018:

Berend Brus

Collection 'Queer’ is the celebration of beauty and individuality of the queer community by connecting its subcultures. The use of denim throughout the collection is a metaphor: “We are all cut out of the same cloth, with special variations.” Read the review by Amsterdam Fashion Week (in Dutch).

Mathieu Jonker

Mathieu's collection ‘Invloeden vanuit de onderwereld’ (Influenced by the Underworld) is inspired by Willem Holleeder, who, aside from his extensive criminal record and bad-ass attitude, was also famous for his quirks.
