How does making become research? What happens when research goes public? And how do we document the intangible?
These questions are at the heart of the new book Hands On Research for Artists, Designers & Educators (Set Margins’, 2024). The book offers an accessible framework for artistic and design research, built around six key actions: research by making, research of context, participatory research, reflecting, documenting, and making public.
Authors and WdKA research tutors Harma Staal, Jojanneke Gijsen, and Miriam Rasch will present the book during an interactive launch event, featuring a discussion with Klaas Kuitenbrouwer (Nieuwe Instituut), practitioners, alumni, and the audience.
