Image & Sound Station

The place for exploring lens-based media, animation and sound

“Bring your ideas to life through sound, photography, or moving image.”

Image and sound are the essential elements of lens-based and time-based storytelling. Lens-based media requires the use of a camera, while time-based media refers to works that unfold over a specific duration.Through recorded visuals and audio, we tap into the human instinct to understand events as a sequence of cause and effect.

At the Image and Sound Station, we provide four main tools for storytelling: animation, photography, video, and sound. We invite you to explore various approaches and techniques, such as hand- drawn storyboards, CGI animation, photograms, DSLR photography, scene creation with chroma keying, voice-over recordings, and foley sound effects. We want to help you to acquire a solid foundational understanding of the key elements that will help you to express your ideas effectively. Additionally, we encourage you to combine different media and experiment with various techniques to bring your narrative to life.

At our Station, we embrace both traditional and modern technologies. The history of photography, animation, film, and recorded sound is one of ongoing technological innovation that continues to shape these art forms. Therefore, we constantly seek out new tools and methods while critically reflecting on how current technologies relate to human experience. However, we avoid pursuing novelty for its own sake and instead focus on creating meaningful experiences through technology.
