Drawing Station

The place to learn the language of drawing

“We draw on all disciplines.”

Use image-making methods to develop your own visual language. Drawing is an elementary and direct way of visualizing ideas. Even in the age of digital media, it remains a fundamental skill that is tied to all disciplines and majors. In the Drawing Station, you conduct visual research and

learn how to draw in the broadest sense of the word. This is a station where you can work on your projects using both digital and traditional media and experiment with the space in between.

At the Drawing Station, you can:

  • Practice visual design principles: develop collage compositions, work with mixed media, and analyze your images
  • Experiment with various drawing techniques
  • Develop your digital drawing skills by learning how to use different kinds of software
  • Prepare and realize your films, animations, and cartoons using storyboards, character designs, and background designs
  • Gain knowledge of illustrating for fashion, books, or the web
